Los Angeles Lakers rumors continue coming through the grapevine, as this one includes another Duke prospect, center, Marques Bolden.

Time is starting to wind down in the NBA season with the Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors battling it out in the NBA Finals. After the Larry O’Brien trophy is raised to one of these teams, the focus is shifted to the NBA Draft on June 20th. That hasn’t stopped Lakers rumors from exploding all over social media to television networks.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been very busy these days trying to figure out what they need to do with the No. 4 pick in the draft. Do they keep the pick and draft the best player available or trade down for financial reasons.

Lake Show Life has been all over the possible candidates for the Lakers to select in this year’s lottery. The coverage has gone in so many directions over the last couple of weeks.

First, the coverage started with ESPN’s mock draft selection Darius Garland during the draft lottery. Then the first of the Lakers rumors started when he left the NBA Draft Combine with a “promise”. Was it the Lakers? Who knows?

Then the coverage went to the stars of the NCAA title game. De’Andre Hunter of Virginia and Jarrett Culver of Texas Tech entered the realm of Lakers rumors. De’Andre Hunter now has supplanted Darius Garland as the Lakers No. 4 pick in the mock draft. Jarrett Culver’s workout at the Staples Center over the weekend brought LeBron James out to watch.

Finally, with swirling reports that the New York Knicks are enamored with Culver, Lake Show Life took a look at not only R.J. Barrett but Cam Reddish too.

Now that the possibilities of the Lakers drafting these players with the only pick they have on draft night, unless the team buys a second round pick or makes a trade, the Lakers have to start looking at players that will most likely not have their names called to place on the summer league team.

One of those candidates played with Zion Williamson and the Duke University media sensation. His name? Marques Bolden.

Marques Bolden even getting scheduled workouts shows how talented Zion Williamson, R.J. Barrett and Cam Reddish are at the game of basketball. Bolden has parlayed his association with Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, his height and his celebrated Duke teammates into an opportunity that may or may not be deserved.

To be honest, there’s not much to show you Lakers fans by way of accomplishments of Marques Bolden in a Duke uniform last year.

Marques Bolden came to Duke in the 2016 class as a top 16 recruit out of Texas. Most of that class is already in the NBA with the likes of Jayson Tatum (Boston), Harry Giles (Sacramento) and Frank Jackson (New Orleans). Injuries set Bolden back as his teammates enjoyed success. Well, there’s always next year, right?

Then the 2017 class came in with Wendell Carter Jr. and Marvin Bagley III. While Carter Jr. and Bagley III used Durham as a temporary stop before getting selected in the lottery last year by Chicago and Sacramento respectively, Bolden struggled.

Marques Bolden brought defense and shot blocking to the Blue Devils last year. What’s most troubling is that most fans would not even know who he was if he didn’t get hurt during the Duke/UNC game at the end of the ACC season.

Since the Lakers are bringing him in for a workout, let’s look at the possibilities of Marques Bolden.
