The 2018-2019 season for the Los Angeles Lakers is in the books, and boy what a season it was. These are the five biggest reasons it was a lost season for the purple and gold.

Going into the season, expectations were sky-high after the Los Angeles Lakers signed LeBron James, but those expectations significantly died down in the months after, as seemingly every single thing that could’ve gone wrong for the Lakers, went wrong.

Reports of workplace dysfunction, trade rumors, coaching complaints, chemistry issues, poor roster construction, and even an on-court fight culminated in a season that this Lakers team would rather forget.

I don’t mean ‘loss’ in the sense that this is season is something the Lakers won’t be able to recover from because I do believe the team is poised to move in the right direction moving forward. However, when looking at this season in a vacuum, it’s obvious that it didn’t unfold the way many were expecting it to and as such, should be given a big fat L.

It was difficult trying to narrow down the reasons for this tumultuous Lakers to five points, as there was plenty of instances that were a contributing factor. However, the following five points, in my opinion, were the biggest reasons for the failure that was the Lakers 2018-2019 season.

So without further ado, let us re-open some old wounds and delve into the list.
