Recent Lakers rumors are that they might be interested in Kemba Walker if he doesn’t re-sign with the Charlotte Hornets.

With the start of free agency and the NBA Draft almost here for the Los Angeles Lakers, there has been no shortage of Lakers rumors about who they might be pursuing this offseason.

This is a very strong free agency class, and the Lakers are hoping to land an All-Star to pair with LeBron James. While the possibility of the Lakers trading for Anthony Davis is still an option, the team would be in much better shape in the long-term and possibly the short-term if they didn’t trade away their young core for Davis.

In terms of potential free agents, the Lakers are reportedly interested in Kemba Walker if he doesn’t re-sign with the Hornets. Here’s what Adrian Wojnarowski said about potential suitors for Kemba on ESPN.

As an All-Star, Walker would of course be a good addition for the Lakers. He has been one of the best point guards in the Eastern Conference the last few years, and could be an excellent piece to paid alongside James.

Walker is coming off a career year, in which he averaged 25.6 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game. After making the All-Star team for three straight seasons, Walker has certainly proven what type of player he is.

While Walker might not be the top option for the Lakers, he is certainly an appealing one. As a point guard, Walker would be able to provide the Lakers with some insurance for Lonzo Ball, who has been frequently injured in his first two seasons in the NBA. Also, Kemba would provide a threat from beyond the arc, which is a need.

The Lakers won’t be the only team that might be pursuing Walker. According to the report, the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks also might be interested in Walker. However, we will have to wait and see if Walker doesn’t re-sign with the Hornets. If he doesn’t, the Lakers appear like a viable option.
