Lakers Nation is waiting with bated breath to see what their team will do (or not do) this offseason, including whether they’ll deal for Anthony Davis after all. The path towards getting that done may have gotten just a bit easier based on recent Lakers Rumors.

As we all remember in January and February there were plenty of Los Angeles Lakers rumors as they tried to negotiate the terms of a potential trade for Anthony Davis with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Although the public nature of those negotiations seemed to decimate their budding team chemistry and drive a deep wedge between LeBron James and the rest of the team, it was assumed that they would serve as a foundation to build on, and that trade talks would resume as soon as the NBA Playoffs ended.

Now, we may be inching forward ever so slowly towards a resolution. On Monday, ESPN reported that sources have indicated the Pelicans are letting other teams know the basic parameters of what they’re looking for in a potential trade for their superstar.

Those parameters seem to include the possibility of getting at least one other team involved so that the Pelicans can be at least somewhat satisfied with what they would receive in return for the six-time All-Star and three-time All-NBA First Team selection.

ESPN also reported that the Lakers, in addition to the Clippers, Knicks and Nets are among the potential suitors for Davis.

David Griffin, the Pelicans new executive vice president of basketball operations, reportedly wants a young blue chipper with All-Star potential, a current All-Star player and two first-round draft picks, but that such parameters aren’t necessarily a hard requirement.

This could help the Lakers, who some would argue have the best assets among the three other main suitors mentioned but might be understandably reluctant to part with some of their young prospects.

Armed with the fourth overall pick in next week’s NBA Draft, they could potentially offer it to a third party for a good young player that would pique the Pelicans’ interest.

At midseason, the Lakers were reportedly offering all of their young core, including Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart, including a few of their veterans for Davis. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, some in the New Orleans front office found that package to be “pretty attractive.”

Now that Ingram is recovering from a blood clot caused by deep vein thrombosis, there is a question as to whether the Pelicans would still be interested in the former Duke standout.
