The Los Angeles Lakers are trying their hand at acquiring Anthony Davis again. If they are unable to acquire him from the New Orleans Pelicans, these are three players they should consider trading for.

The Los Angeles Lakers are less than a month away from one of the most important summers in recent memory. Land a top free agent and Lakers fans rejoice. Miss out and the already palpable disdain for the Lakers front office will reach fever pitch.

The Lakers will pursue the likes of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard extremely hard, however, it is going to be an uphill battle to land any of the above.

The Lakers will need to have a contingency plan in place in case they swing and miss out on these stars.

Ideally, the Lakers make a trade for Anthony Davis without giving up all of the young core, after that they would land a top free agent to form a super team and the Lakers would compete for numerous championships over the next decade.

That would be an ideal scenario but very rarely do things seem to go to plan for the purple and gold and if the Lakers do not prepare for any eventuality then they are destined to fail.

With one of the Lakers main targets now being heavily linked with the Brooklyn Nets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the talent pool is going to dry up very quickly come July 1st.

While I don’t think that the Lakers will completely strike out in free agency, every eventuality needs to be prepared for and landing the below players would not be the worst thing in the world.

Here are three trades the Los Angeles Lakers should make if they completely miss out on the top free agents this summer.
