The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly landed Anthony Davis, one of the most coveted players of the offseason, but Rob Pelinka still has a lot more work to do in order to fill out LA’s roster. Let’s rank the Lakers best free agent choices.

Ever since Anthony Davis’s agent, Rich Paul, announced that AD wanted a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans back in January, the Los Angeles Lakers did everything they could to make a deal happen.

Rob Pelinka finally managed to reportedly acquire Anthony Davis, agreeing to a deal but it cost the Lakers a huge amount of players and assets.

Here’s what the Lakers are sending to the Pelicans according to ESPN:

  • Lonzo Ball
  • Brandon Ingram
  • Josh Hart
  • No. 4 pick in 2019
  • Top-8 protected pick in 2021
  • Unprotected pick swap in 2023
  • Unprotected first round pick in 2024
  • Unprotected pick swap in 2025

After the Anthony Davis transaction, the Lakers are an open canvas with only five players currently under contract:

  1. LeBron James
  2. Anthony Davis
  3. Kyle Kuzma
  4. Moritz Wagner
  5. Isaac Bonga

The duo of Anthony Davis and LeBron James, along with Kyle Kuzma, make the Lakers instant contenders next year, but if Rob Pelinka can land another superstar in free agency, LA would then transform into the definitive team to beat heading into the 2019-2020 season.

Depending on when the Lakers and the Pelicans make the Anthony Davis trade official, the Purple and Gold should have around $30 million to spend on another player.
