– Guard with a jumper

As the Lakers are currently constructed, the roster is in need of guards and players that can shoot. Like we saw last season, being able to shoot from the outside is something that is critical for success with LeBron James. The Lakers didn’t have that last season, and that is going to be a priority this offseason. Russell fits both of those needs for the Lakers, as he can play at either point guard or shooting guard. Also, his shooting numbers are quite good.

In his second season with Brooklyn, Russell took a noticeable step forward in his three-point shooting. On 7.8 attempts per game, Russell was able to shoot 36.9 percent from three-point range, which is pretty impressive. Having a percentage over 35 percent with that many attempts puts Russell in a unique category.

While Russell did take 5.3 attempts with the Lakers in two seasons, he averaged 7.1 attempts per game with the Nets.

Being able to play with LeBron James would certainly help get Russell some easy looks for three. Instead of creating for himself, Russell would be able to set up as a spot-up shooter a bit more playing with James.
