Danny Green

If the development of the free agent market depends on and will have to wait for Kawhi Leonard’s decision, Danny Green’s destiny is even more directly connected to it.

The two-time NBA champion obviously wants to keep this trend of his career and in order to do so, he needs to accurately choose his next destination. If Kawhi comes back to Toronto, Green would gladly rejoin the Canadian team for another run at the championship. But, if his friend and teammate leaves, Toronto will not stand a chance against its Eastern Conference competitors, let alone the Western Conference ones.

Green is well known around the league as the prototypical 3-and-D player, the first one in his era to receive a major contract for these qualities. Last season he shot a career-high 45.5 percent from three but in the playoffs he had a major collapse, shrinking to 32.8 percent.

The truth is that the former Spur has had more ups and downs through his career than his suitors would admit, yet he remains acclaimed as one of the premier shooters in the league thanks to some jaw-dropping performances like last season and the 60.5 percent in the 2013 Finals.

Green would be another perfect fit for the purple and gold but at 31 years old he will be looking for what is probably going to be his last long-term contract.
