Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Kentavious Caldwell Pope has been signed in consecutive years to fill the starting shooting guard spot, but his contract decreased each time because of his inconsistency.

KCP originally joined the Lakers on a one-year, $18 million deal, waiting to land a multi-year offer the following summer.

Things did not go that way.

Kentavious did not show up until after the All-Star break, and combined with legal issues, it contributed to diminish his value, leading him to sign back with the Lakers for less money.

New contract, same story.

This time he showed up well after the All-Star break, down the final stretch, when he lit it up with some great performances.

It will mean even less money on his next contract and the Lakers might consider re-signing him to a bargain deal hoping that this time around he starts playing his game earlier.

While defense the only part of his game to be constant in both years, when his offense worked he proved a terrific player, and still deserves the credit of having been the bridge that led LeBron James to Los Angeles.
