The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have to get creative in filling out their roster. Here are five players the team could consider.

Los Angeles Lakers’ roster is almost empty. Following the Anthony Davis trade, the entire league is looking at the Lakers’ next move to fill out what is already considered the favorite team to win the NBA championship next year. Today, we are going to make a jump into the future and consider who could be the final pieces that will refine that contending roster.

The start of free agency is here and the Lakers’ front office is tirelessly working to create a max salary slot in their cap. Whether they use it with another star or multiple players, it will be a busy summer for the Lakers trying to fill out a roster currently consisting of just three proven NBA players.

While whispers about complementary players best suited to support LeBron James and Anthony Davis are already swirling around the league, the last NBA finals showed that depth is a key factor in contending for a championship.

Once the roster’s main rotational pieces will be signed, mainly through the first week, a small amount of money will remain to address the final spots on the roster.

At that point the Lakers will most likely be without cap space available and most signings will consequentially come through veteran minimum contracts.

Therefore, while most discussions right now concern the first-line supporting cast, here, we are going to take a look at those players who will complete the roster at low cost. Some of these options will sparingly see the floor, taking the court only in garbage time or cheering their teammates either from the end of the bench or in a suit. Others might instead carve a role in the rotation and gain consistent playing time contributing thanks to one or two key skills.

Anyway, most of them will have their moments through a long season, and if it does not happen, they are still part of the team and equally important to its overall success.

Here are five lower-profile free agents for the team to add in free agency.
