1. Shooting
One of the biggest issues with the roster the Lakers built last season was that they had no shooters to space the floor. Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka wanted to take a different approach to surround LeBron James and it backfired.
They tried to correct the mistake at the trade deadline, acquiring Reggie Bullock and Mike Muscala, but it was too little too late. This offseason, the Lakers are not repeating that mistake.
Dudley is a very good 3-point shooter, knocking down 39.2 percent of his 3-point attempts in his career. He has shot over 41 percent three separate times. Dudley is a solid shooter overall, making 46.5 percent of his shots throughout his career. For someone who has attempted nearly 43 percent of their shots from beyond the 3-point line in their career, that is a strong percentage.
Dudley gives the Lakers someone they can plug into the lineup on any given night that can knock down shots on the perimeter. That kind of floor spacing was lacking last season and the Lakers have addressed it thus far with their first two free agent signings.
