The Los Angeles Lakers have recently signed Devontae Cacok to a contract. For Cacok, this is only the beginning.

The Las Vegas Summer League hasn’t gone as well as the Los Angeles Lakers would have hoped. However, they are still learning and growing from the tournament.

In recent years, the Lakers have dominated in Las Vegas. With a lot of fans in the arena to cheer for the team, Vegas has become a second home for the Lakers. However, with most of their young assets gone now, the Lakers didn’t have nearly as talented of a roster as we have seen in years past.

With the Lakers giving a lot of chances to young players, a few of them have stood out in Summer League. One of those being Devontae Cacok. The strong showing by Cacok recently resulted in him landing a contract from the Lakers.

As expected, Cacok is really excited for the opportunity.

"“Only the beginning,” Cacok told Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll"

So far in Summer League, Cacok has been one of the top performers for the Lakers. In three games, Cacok is averaging 13.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in just 22.3 minutes per game. With a field goal percentage at nearly 60 percent, Cacok has been extremely efficient for the Lakers. After three games, Cacok is also the only Laker shooting above 50 percent from the field.

While the Exhibit 10 contract has no guarantees for Cacok, it does provide him with an opportunity to continue to impress the Lakers. After his strong play so far in the Summer League, Cacok could easily find himself in the G-League for the South Bay Lakers in the upcoming season.

The Lakers have done a strong job developing some of their G-League players in recent years, as we have seen players like Alex Caruso turn his time in the G-League into a contract with the Lakers. For Cacok, he could find himself following a similar path if he continues to impress.
