Amidst the flurry of free agent signings in early July, who are new to the Lakers, one holdover from last season’s team could prove to be a valuable under-the-radar signing

Lakers Nation, the roster for your 2019-20 Los Angeles Lakers is (mostly) set! We know we’ll have one of the best frontcourts in the league with LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma, JaVale McGee and even DeMarcus Cousins. But what about the backcourt?

At first, the signings were solid, but a little underwhelming. Danny Green was a strong and much-needed one, followed by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Rajon Rondo and Quinn Cook. Decent, but not exactly groundbreaking.

Then came the acquisition of Avery Bradley, who should greatly augment a backcourt that desperately needed someone who could handle the ball in space, create his own shot and hit his own shot.

Now comes the cherry on top: Alex Caruso.

In all seriousness, I’m really glad the Lakers held on to him. The Golden State Warriors, who are remaking their team after two of their great stars were struck down by the basketball gods with severe injuries and one of them left for the NYC area, were reportedly interested in Caruso.

Luckily for the purple and gold, he turned them down to remain with the Lakers.

The casual fan may not care about him or even know who he is, but keeping him could pay off down the road and here are five reasons why.
