At his introductory press conference with the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis spoke about the team being able to compete with anyone.

Just prior to the start of free agency and the NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers made the first big splash of the offseason, by acquiring Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Lakers tried hard to acquire Davis before the trade deadline last season, but were unsuccessful. However, with the 4th overall pick in addition to their young core, the Lakers had the assets to get the deal done.

While Davis might not have had a ton of team success with the Pelicans, he is one of the best players in the NBA on both ends of the court. The Lakers received a young and talented two-way player that is hungry to win.

Since Davis didn’t get far in the playoffs with the Pelicans, the thought of teaming up with LeBron James on the Lakers gives Davis the best teammate he has ever had. Recently, Davis spoke about the Lakers being able to beat anyone. Here’s what he said via Christian Rivas of Silver Screen and Roll.

"“I like our roster. I like every player that we have from one through 15. Well, 14 (laughs). One through 14. So I’m excited about it and I’ll put our roster up against anybody. I feel like in a seven-game series that we’ll come out victorious,” Davis said."

After missing out on Kawhi Leonard, the Lakers did an excellent job filling out the roster around Davis and LeBron. The Lakers certainly have a talented team, and their chances of winning a NBA Title are pretty strong according to Vegas.

While depth is important for the regular season grind, come playoff time, its all about the stars. We have seen LeBron carry some poor teams very far in the playoffs, just because of the simple fact that he was the best player on the court most nights.

Now that the Lakers have added Davis, they will have two true superstars on their team. In a seven-game series, it will be hard to beat the great duo of James and Davis four times. There are some great duos in the Western Conference, but the Lakers very well might have the best.
