With the roster nearly set for the Los Angeles Lakers, Frank Vogel recently talked about what the offense might look like.

The Los Angeles Lakers made some major changes this offseason from the roster to the coaching staff.

With all of the new faces, the Lakers will look like a much different team. Compared to Luke Walton, Frank Vogel will have different views on how the offense will operate. Since the roster is very different than last season, Vogel will be looking to utilize the weapons that he has.

Unlike last season, Vogel will have the luxury of working with two superstars on the offensive end. LeBron James and Anthony Davis might be the best duo in the NBA, and defending both of them is going to be a challenge for other teams.

Recently, Vogel talked about his plan on offense for the Lakers. Here’s what he had to say via Kyle Goon of the OC Register.

"“It’s a simple concept, put shooters around elite offensive talents and you are going to be pretty good because your guys are either going to score or they’re going to find shooters on the weak side,” he said. “That’s the way our roster has been set up and built and we got an army of guys on that weak side that can punish either with the three or making plays off the bounce.”"

From his time with the Indiana Pacers, Vogel knows a lot about James. The Pacers and the Heat had a nice little rivalry in the Eastern Conference when James was in South Beach. On those Heat teams, Miami obviously had their three stars. However, they were built well around those stars with some strong shooters. This offseason, the Lakers appeared to have copied that plan.

Last summer, the Lakers really didn’t add any shooters to surround LeBron with. It became clear pretty quickly that the Lakers were going to be one of the worst shooting teams in the league.

This offseason, the Lakers made it a priority to surround James and Davis with shooters. While it might take some time for all of the new players to get comfortable with each other, the Lakers have a good mix of talent on paper.

Next. How should Vogel set up the rotation. dark

As the new head coach, it will be Vogel’s job to get all the pieces to fit. He seems to have a good plan of letting his superstars do their thing and then utilizing his shooters on the weak side for easy looks.
