Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis recently said he would consider playing for his hometown team if the right opportunity came along.

This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to get their man in Anthony Davis.

Despite trying very hard during the season last year to acquire Davis, the Lakers were able to get the job done this summer. The addition of Davis was certainly needed for the Lakers. For the past few years, the Lakers have tried extremely hard to pair two superstars together, and now they have accomplished that.

Last summer, the Lakers were able to start that by signing LeBron James. However, they were not able to pair him with another star in free agency. The Lakers decided not to put all of their eggs into the free agency basket this summer, as they traded quite a bit to get Davis.

This ended up being the right decision, as Kawhi Leonard ended up choosing the Los Angeles Clippers over the Lakers. While Davis is very happy to be on a title contender like the Lakers, he was recently asked if he would consider playing for his hometown team in the Chicago Bulls one day. Here’s what he had to say via K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

"“I mean, (this is) definitely hometown,” he said. “If the opportunity ever presents itself and when that time comes, I’d definitely consider it.”"

With the Bulls being his hometown team, Davis of course would be interested in playing for them. However, he seems very focused on winning a ring right now, and that isn’t realistic in Chicago right now.

By teaming up with James, Davis now has the best teammate that he has ever played with. The two could very well be the best duo in the NBA, and they are the favorites to bring home the title.

While we have seen players go home with the hopes of bringing a title to their hometown, that doesn’t seem like anything that is in the immediate future for Davis. As long as the Lakers are able to continue on the path that they have started this offseason, Davis wouldn’t really be give a reason to want to leave.
