3. He wants to redeem himself

Like most great athletes, LeBron, in his own way, is sensitive about how others perceive him and his legacy.

Other than his first season in Miami, he has always received extremely favorable treatment from the press. Ever since he won his first ring in 2012, and especially since he won his second one the year after, just about every pundit in the mainstream media has hyped LeBron as either the GOAT or one of the two or three greatest players in NBA history.

It has gotten to the point where some feel like the media always makes excuses for him when his team doesn’t go all the way.

That sentiment reached a head this past season, and for the first time in eight years, some in the media criticized LeBron, blaming him for showing bad leadership, or saying that no one wants to play with him. The latter seems to be true because his business team is exerting too much power within the Lakers organization and around the NBA, according to some.

After taking a beating, both physically, team-wise and from the media, I’m sure LeBron wants to make some people eat their words and restore the great luster that has always preceded him.
