Here are five reasons why the Los Angeles Lakers will be better than the Los Angeles Clippers.

Los Angeles Lakers Nation, the battle of Los Angeles is underway! Cue the Rage Against The Machine soundtrack and get ready for eight or nine months of an epic battle for basketball supremacy in our nation’s number two market.

If you’ve been living in your own private island lately, the Clippers pulled off an epic coup-d’etat when they not only signed two-time NBA champ and Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, but also acquired All-Star Paul George for a record haul of draft picks. According to reports, Leonard was thinking Clippers during this whole free agency process, dating back to last summer, and he may have only given the appearance that he was interested in the Lakers to use them as leverage and/or hold them essentially hostage to prevent them from signing the best quality free agents possible.

But alas, the Lakers still signed a cadre of very solid role players and complementary players after being stood up by Leonard. They addressed almost every roster and positional weakness, and are now being considered one of the favorites to win the world championship next season.

However, the Clippers, basking in the afterglow of their one fell swoop on Friday, are being installed by some pundits as the leading favorite to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy next June.

I personally predict that the mainstream media, if they haven’t already, will fall in love with the Clippers, partly because a majority of media pundits don’t exactly seem to love the Lakers.

Don’t let the media hype distract you. Although the Lakers and Clippers will likely be neck-and-neck as the two best teams in the Western Conference for the next several months, there are several reasons to be confident that the Lakers will ultimately hold a slight edge over their stepchild co-tenants of Staples Center.
