Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers recently spoke about if he wasn’t able to win a championship in the NBA.
One of the most notable moves of the offseason was the Los Angeles Lakers being able to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Lakers and Davis were linked together for months before a deal was finally done, but the Lakers were able to accomplish acquiring him this summer. As one of the top players in the league, Davis instantly improves the Lakers’ chances of winning a title this season.
Having a duo of LeBron James and Davis creates one of the best in the league, and the Lakers are poised for big things this season. Recently on the That’s What She Said podcast with Sarah Spain of ESPN, Davis talked about if he’s had any failures or not yet in his career. Here’s what he said with text via Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll.
"“I don’t think I have a failure that I’ve had yet,” Davis told ESPN as a guest on That’s What She Said with Sarah Spain. “Obviously at the end of my career if I don’t win a championship that would be, I would feel that’s one of my biggest failures. But right now, I still have a lot to do in this world on and off the court.”So I don’t feel like I’ve failed in anything. I think I just continue to do it over until I succeed at it.”"
Davis talking about not winning a championship in his career being a failure is certainly the right thing to think. While he is still young, Davis hasn’t had much success in the playoffs in his career. For a player as talented as Davis, this is certainly a knock against his early legacy.
However, one of the main reasons to come to the Lakers was to be on a title contender. After strong offseason following the trade for Davis, the Lakers are certainly positioned to do that.
For a lot of players, including LeBron James, a title doesn’t always come right away with the team that drafted you. It took James going to Miami and joining forces with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to get him his first ring.
While there is no denying that Davis is one of the best in the league, he wasn’t able to get it done in New Orleans. Now, he has all the tools necessary to accomplish what he wants in Los Angeles. If Davis wins a title with the Lakers, his legacy will certainly begin to grow.
