Rajon Rondo: A

The third Laker that the Lakers re-signed quickly was Rajon Rondo, which makes another two-way deal for another free agent signing for the Lakers and under a veteran’s minimum deal.

Singing Rondo to a two-year veterans minimum deal is an outright steal. Much like the Cousins singing, Rondo is a proven All-Star in this league. Rondo is past his prime. But just over one year ago he and Anthony Davis helped lead the New Orleans Pelicans to a first round sweep over the Portland Trail Blazers, with Rondo averaging near a triple double during their 2018 NBA playoff run.

Rondo comes up big in big moments, and that’s exactly what the Lakers will need come playoff time. Additionally, the Lakers are left without a true starting Point Guard in losing Lonzo Ball in the Anthony Davis trade. That being said, Rondo still may not land a starting position with the team, but he’ll be expected to play crucial minutes alongside Anthony Davis.

Rondo is a point guard that the Lakers needed. He excels alongside Anthony Davis, and he comes up huge in the playoffs. For these reasons, the Rondo signing earns an A.

  • Rondo’s 36 minutes per game averages last season: 11.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 9.7 assists, and 1.5 steals.
