Los Angeles Lakers: Ranking the 2019 Christmas Day games
The Los Angeles Lakers will have the privilege of playing on Christmas Day once again in 2019. We ranked all five games on this year’s Christmas Day slate.
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the marquee franchises not only in the NBA but in the whole sports world. The purple and gold are recognizable anywhere and this season they are looking to return to the top of the hill in the league.
Los Angeles dominated headlines throughout the offseason. Despite missing out on a star free agent, the team still upgraded in a big way. Anthony Davis was acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans. The Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes lasted longer than anyone would have guessed, but that didn’t hurt the Lakers in putting together a strong roster.
Los Angeles was able to add steady veterans such as Danny Green, Avery Bradley, DeMarcus Cousins, Quinn Cook, Troy Daniels and Jared Dudley. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Rajon Rondo and JaVale McGee were re-signed to help keep some chemistry as well.
With such high hopes for the season, it is no surprise that the Lakers will be playing on Christmas Day once again. They have played 45 games on Christmas and will be making it 46 this year. Only the New York Knicks, with 53 games played, have appeared more on Christmas Day than the Lakers.
Los Angeles will inch closer to catching the Knicks in what will be a loaded slate of games for the day. The revived rivalry in Los Angeles will be one of the games, as the Lakers and Clippers will be facing off.
The other four games will be the Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors, Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks vs. Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Pelicans vs. Denver Nuggets.
It is a nice mix of games as we will see plenty of contenders facing off and some of the biggest names in the game. However, which game should you be most excited four? We ranked the games, five through one, about which is the best game to watch on Christmas Day in 2019.
