Los Angeles Lakers: 4 reasons fans should embrace Quinn Cook
Quinn Cook is a gem that the Los Angeles Lakers were able to sign who comes to Los Angeles with a high-class pedigree. Fans should embrace him.
This will be Quinn Cook‘s fourth season in the NBA. Cook has contracted to play for five teams thus far; Cleveland, New Orleans, Dallas, Atlanta, and the Golden State Warriors, where he became an NBA Champion.
At 6-foot-2, the NBA usually is a difficult climb for most point guards coming out of school. But Quinn stayed at Duke for four years, so he came in with experience.
4. NBA Championship Experience
Experience is not necessarily something that NBA scouts and teams look for in the draft but they should. They seem to want the 19-year-old rookie with a ton of athleticism who left school early.
Fans, every year, think that the number one lottery pick is going to flip the franchise around in one season. We can see from Deandre Ayton, Anthony Davis, Markelle Fultz and more that isn’t the case.
In fact, unless a one-and-done player gets drafted onto a team with superstars, it is almost impossible.
Here are some of Cook’s accolades throughout his pro career:
- NBA champion (2018)
- NBA D-League All-Star Game MVP (2017)
- NBA D-League Rookie of the Year (2016)
- 2× First-team All-NBA D-League/G-League (2017, 2018)
- Third-team All-NBA D-League (2016)
- NBA D-League All-Rookie Team (2016)
- 2× NBA D-League All-Star (2016, 2017)
Playing for Steve Kerr and with veteran superstars and All-Stars such as Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala, you have to come away learning a ton.
