Kyle Kuzma of the Los Angeles Lakers recently talked about whether or not he would mind coming off the bench.
After the Los Angeles Lakers finished up filling out their roster, everyone began to wonder about what the starting lineup and rotation would look like.
Due to the Lakers having some real quality depth this coming season, making a rotation and a starting lineup might take some time for Frank Vogel. One of the main questions regarding the starting lineup and the rotation is what will happen with Kyle Kuzma.
Since the Lakers were able to add a dynamic talent in Anthony Davis, the starting lineup is going to have two elite scorers with Davis and James. However, to start the game, the Lakers might not need the scoring of Kuzma.
Many have speculated about whether or not Kuzma would be best-suited coming off the bench, rather than in the starting lineup. In a recent interview with Shams Charania of the Athletic, Kuzma said that he doesn’t mind coming off the bench. This is certainly some good news for Lakers fans and for Vogel. Having a guy like Kuzma to come off the bench will make his job a lot easier. Sometimes, players don’t like coming off the bench if they believe that they are starting quality players. While Kuzma is certainly a starter of most teams, him coming off the bench at this point might be best for the Lakers.
If Kuzma does indeed come off the bench, the Lakers will have one of the best bench scorers in the league. With the ability and potential to score 20 points a night, there will be no rest for opposing teams if Kuzma comes off the bench. If done properly, the Lakers could have at least two of James, Davis, and Kuzma on the court at all times.
While we will have to wait to see what the rotation looks like, Kuzma coming out and being willing to come off the bench is great news for the Lakers.
