– January 20th @ Boston Celtics
Like Christmas Day, Martin Luther King Day is a great one for basketball fans. There will be good games on all day, and the Lakers will once again be in a featured matchup against the Boston Celtics.
The Lakers and Celtics have the best rivalry in the NBA, and they should both have good teams this season. After looking like a title contender last season, the Celtics fell way short of their goals.
This offseason, they suffered a couple of big losses, as Kyrie Irving and Al Horford both left for other teams in the Eastern Conference. However, the Celtics were able to reach the Eastern Conference Finals a few years ago without Irving, as there can certainly be a argument made that he didn’t mix well with others on the team.
The Celtics did make a big move to replace Irving, as they brought in Kemba Walker to fill the role. Walker is a very good player, and will now be part of the rivalry with the Lakers. Even though the Celtics might not be starting the season as title contenders like last season, they will surely be up for a big game at the Boston Garden against the arch-rival.
This matchup against Boston will be part of a five-game road trip, with four of the games being on the East Coast. Certainly a challenging part of the schedule for the Lakers.
