With the Los Angeles Lakers being interested in Dwight Howard, here are three things that he could bring to the team.
After the injury to DeMarcus Cousins, the Los Angeles Lakers have been left with a noticeable void at center. While they do still have their starter from last season in JaVale McGee, they don’t have anyone to back him up now.
Last season, McGee was pretty good for the Lakers. He certainly exceeded most expectations, but he isn’t a guy that is going to be 30+ minutes a night. When the Lakers traded for Anthony Davis, many thought that he would be playing some minutes at the center position. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The Lakers don’t want Davis at the five, and Davis is more comfortable playing at power forward. So, this leaves the Lakers needing to add someone. One of the names that the Lakers are reportedly interested in is Dwight Howard.
If Howard returned, it would be something that many people never saw coming. Howard and the Lakers didn’t have a good first stint in the 2012-13 season. After a big trade to acquire him, Howard eventually went to the Houston Rockets after just one year in Los Angeles.
Since leaving the Rockets, Howard has bounced around the NBA a bit. However, he appears to have matured a bit and is seeking a title and a possible redemption story with the Lakers. With a need at center, Howard certainly makes sense for the Lakers. If the Lakers do indeed pursue Howard, here are three things he can bring to the team.
