The Los Angeles Lakers have a big void to fill after DeMarcus Cousins tore his ACL and Joakim Noah should be signed to help fill that void.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without DeMarcus Cousins for quite some time as he suffered a torn ACL injury. Now they must look at some replacement options, one that is intriguing is Joakim Noah.

The veteran center is currently a free agent, and it’s only a matter of time that a quality team signs him. Despite being 34 years of age he is still someone who will produce when given the time.

Retaining JaVale McGee looks like a genius move at this stage. With Cousins out potentially for the season, he is the only option at center. The reason being that Anthony Davis wants to play his natural power forward spot.

This is why it’s important to sign a player like Joakim Noah. He isn’t the two-time All-Star he was in 2013-14 or the Defensive Player of the Year anymore but is far from finished.

After battling injuries for years, Noah looked healthy last season.

More from Lake Show Life

Last season, Noah played well in Memphis. With the Grizzlies, he averaged 7.1 points and 5.7 rebounds in only 16.5 minutes. He is still a reliable rim protector and has a terrific feel for the game. Noah has always made terrific reads on offense. In short minutes last year, he averaged 2.1 assists. He has averaged at least four assists in three different seasons, a true rarity for a center.

The Lakers signing Noah can be a similar pickup to when they got Tyson Chandler in free agency after he was waived by the Phoenix Suns last season. Except, Noah might be a more reliable center when healthy.

Signing Joakim Noah will be a move that can pay even bigger dividends come playoff time. He is as experienced as any Laker other than LeBron James. He has played in big games, many coming against James.

He has played in 60 playoff games in his career. In those games, he has averages of 9.7 points and 11 rebounds.

Joakim Noah is one of the scrappiest players in the league and doesn’t care about offense like most players. His leadership on the floor and off will be something the Lakers can certainly use.

It’s time for Rob Pelinka to get on the phone and contact Noah’s team. The Lakers can surely use him as a backup center.
