With the roster for the 2019-2020 Los Angeles Lakers appearing to be set, let’s take a closer look at each individual player and see each player ranks.
After a failed attempt to surround LeBron James with ‘playmaking’ and ‘toughness’, Rob Pelinka and co. did a lot better the second time around putting together a roster that actually makes sense on paper for the Los Angeles Lakers.
As the roster currently stands, there are 15 players to assess, with two more players on Exhibit 10 deals, which is essentially a Summer League contract. Since the players signed on these types of deals will hardly see any meaningful playing time, and will spend the majority, if not the entire season in the G-League (should the Lakers decide to even sign them), we’re going to omit them from this power ranking.
Here’s some insight into how I came to this ranking. For me, I wanted to take into account a number of factors, such as what aspects of the game the player excels in, their versatility on both ends of the floor, as well as their expected role on the team.
So for instance, player X may be a great three-point shooter, but provide little else. This makes him rank lower than player Y, who isn’t as good of a shooter, but may be a better defender and play-maker, or who is a more capable shot-creator.
So with that out of the way, let’s get into the rankings.
