Shooting Guard: Danny Green

A better fit to a LeBron James led team you will not find. Former Raptors guard Danny Green joined the Lakers this summer on a two-year deal. The Lakers were handicapped by superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard, spending the opening days of free agency pondering his next move.  However, Green is a great fit.

Having just come off of a championship-winning season with the Toronto Raptors, Green comes to the Lakers with the perfect characteristics to fit in with this Lakers squad.

Let us start with Green’s defense. While not a physically imposing player, Green has been able to develop into a wonderful perimeter defender. Tasked with guarding some of the best players in the league on a nightly basis, Green more than holds his own and at times is an elite defender. His ability to guard numerous positions will come in handy on this Lakers team.

Now onto Green’s offensive capabilities. With the likes of Seth Curry, Wayne Ellington, and J.J. Reddick choosing other destinations during free agency, it seemed like the Lakers would struggle mightily to land a sharpshooter at the shooting guard position. However, in Green, the Lakers landed an extremely capable 3-point shooter.

With his ability to stretch the floor, Green will be a great pick and pop shooter out of the pick and roll. He can be an elite shooter coming off of screens and will benefit from the gravity in which LeBron James and Anthony Davis demand each time they are on the floor.
