Recent Los Angeles Lakers rumors involve Carmelo Anthony, who has been linked to the team.
There have been plenty of Los Angeles Lakers rumors recently as the team has rounded out their roster.
With the injury to DeMarcus Cousins, they had to bring in another center and decided to bring in Dwight Howard. Howard beat out Joakim Noah and Marreese Speights, who both worked out for the team as well.
With Howard on the roster, the Lakers now have no roster spots open. However, Cousins has found himself in some hot water recently as an arrest warrant was put out for him recently. Given the ACL injury he has and if he is in legal trouble, the Lakers could try to move on from Cousins to open up a roster spot.
According to reports, Andre Iguodala is who the Lakers were hoping to fill that last roster spot with. However, there is another player to keep an eye on in Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony has been linked to the Lakers because of his relationship with LeBron James. Last season, had the Lakers remained in playoff contention, they planned to sign him for the stretch run. That playoff push never happened and Melo remained a free agent.
Anthony remains a free agent now and is looking to get back onto an NBA roster. He recently took part in some informal scrimmages with the New York Knicks along with other non-roster players, such as Hasheem Thabeet. Now, Anthony is being linked to more teams as well.
According to Frank Isola of The Athletic, Anthony has been linked to the Lakers. In addition to the Lakers, Anthony has also been linked to the LA Clippers. Isola also stated that Anthony’s representatives have talked to the Philadelphia 76ers. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are also pushing for the Brooklyn Nets to sign Melo.
Why Anthony is linked to the Lakers, again, makes little sense. The team does not currently have a roster spot available and they have passed on him multiple times. At this point in time, it is unlikely they would change course and sign him, especially since it would mean cutting someone else.
Howard is on a non-guaranteed contract, but he has a specific role to fill. Cutting him at this point to sign Anthony will not happen. Anthony is not bringing the same things to the court that Howard is, so he should be safe, for now.
