Dwight Howard recently talked about looking forward to playing with Anthony Davis. Will the two be great together for the Los Angeles Lakers?

While he may not have been their first option this offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers have reunited with Dwight Howard.

The first time around may not have gone well for both sides, but Howard has a chance to help what could be a great Lakers team. Even though Howard isn’t being brought in this time to be an All-Star, he will have an important role with the Lakers.

Howard could battle JaVale McGee for the starting center spot in Los Angeles, as he looks to be very motivated this season. Howard has had a few tough seasons after being considered one of the best big men in the league not too long ago.

With health being an issue for some of those years, Howard is in great shape and could make an impact this season. As a center, Howard is looking forward to the potential pairing in the frontcourt with Anthony Davis. Here’s what Howard said on a conference call via Christian Rivas of Silver Screen and Roll.

"“Man, I’m just excited to be on this team. They have a lot of weapons, and playing with a guy like Anthony Davis, I think we’ll really play well off each other. He’s amazing. I’ve watched him grow over the years, and I’m just excited to be able to learn from him but also show him some things that I’ve learned over my 15 years of being in the NBA,” Howard said."

One of the interesting things that Howard talks about is being a willing teacher for Davis. While Davis is one of the best players in the league, you can always learn little things no matter how good you are.

On the defensive end of the court, Howard was one of the best we have seen in the last 10 years when he was in his prime. Davis is already an excellent defender as well, but Howard might be able to teach him some things.

While it is uncertain whether or not Howard will be starting alongside Davis, the two should see the floor together a bit. If Howard is able to stay healthy, they could form one of the best defensive pairings in the frontcourt in the entire NBA.

After being humbled a bit in recent years, it really appears like Howard understands the opportunity in front of him and where he is at in his career. Hopefully, we will see a lot of positive things coming from Howard in his second stint with the Lakers.
