Los Angeles Lakers: Kyle Kuzma will be the supplementary star
Kyle Kuzma will be the supplementary star for the Los Angeles Lakers. He told ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk he’s confident that he can be the third star player for the Lakers.
In June, the Los Angeles Lakers traded Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Josh Hart for Anthony Davis. The chosen one was Kyle Kuzma.
Now, Kuzma is focused on the 2019-2020 season, and to help in any way possible, to be an NBA champion. Kuzma said he would be willing to come off the bench as well if that’s what will help the Lakers win.
Kyle Kuzma on being the third star:
"“I don’t feel no pressure, but I believe that I am capable of being that superstar. I put a lot of work in. My progress through my journey shows that I can be there. I developed every single year, dating back to college, and I don’t see that development stunting at all.”“Last year I didn’t shoot the ball well, and I still averaged almost 20 [points per game]. If I can shoot the ball well and keep developing the facets of my game defensively, I don’t see why I can’t [be that third star].”"
Kuzma has the capability of being the third star once he improves defensively and develops a consistent 3-point shot. A team featuring LeBron James, Davis and Kuzma will be a tough team to defeat.

Kyle Kuzma will definitely be a supplementary star because most of the attention will be turned to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Kuzma’s ability to move without the ball will make him a supplementary star because he will get a bunch of open looks from three this season.
Last season, Kuzma shot 30.3% from three. He needs to improve and shoot at a higher percentage. Kuzma was missing wide-open threes as well and that can’t happen this season as he will be getting a lot of open looks, due to the presence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Kuzma will play in a similar role for the Lakers as Kevin Love played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Chris Bosh played for the Miami Heat when LeBron ran the show for those teams. We saw Love and Bosh get a bunch of open looks with the LeBron and Kyrie or LeBron and Wade duo.
Now, LeBron has Anthony Davis. With so much talent on the basketball court, teams will need to focus on the superstar duo, meaning defenses won’t pay as much attention to Kuzma, so he must take advantage of the open looks given to him.
He has been working on his outside game this off-season, and Kuzma could average 20 points, as a third option because of his ability to move without the basketball in his hands. Kuzma will look to help his team win in any way he can.
