Which three members of the Los Angeles Lakers roster are considerably overrated (or overhyped)?
The offseason is a great time of hope for all basketball enthusiasts. It’s a period when fans of even the lowliest organizations can dream about their hometown squad making the playoffs. It’s also a stretch when all basketball supporters can envision their favorite young players becoming first-time All-Stars.
Summer is a time where anything is possible. Old players can post footage of themselves working hard, which allows fans to conjure up images of them regaining some of their youth. Troubled players can say all the right things and try to convince everyone that they have changed into better people.
Some dreams are realistic while others are more like corny underdog movie storylines, but it doesn’t matter for the players on most squads in the NBA, because their fans quickly forget all of the cheery summer storylines that were written about them.
The Lakers are different because the Purple and Gold are one of the most successful organizations in the world. Everything that happens to the men who suit up for the Lakers is magnified by ten. LA fans love to talk about the Purple and Gold, and when they start discussing how specific players on the squad are going to perform next season, people listen and they remember.
Most of the recent offseason ideas about the Lakers have been very positive, and that total optimism has gained traction. Now Lakers social media platforms are full of endless hopefulness about the entire roster.
Unfortunately, things never work out as we envision. Most of the players on this version of the Lakers will play great basketball next season; however a few members of the team will under-perform.
We’ll discuss three players who are currently overvalued by most Lakers fans.
