Point Guard: Alex Caruso

While the Los Angeles Lakers do not have a shortage of players capable of playing the point guard position on the team, each player with a vast amount of championship experience in Rajon Rondo and Quinn Cook. However, it is the former G League standout Alex Caruso who should be the front runner to lead the charge off the bench at point guard.

When you just look at Alex Caruso without seeing him play, two words come to mind; future MVP. All joking aside, the words that come to mind are slow and unathletic. I can assure you that Caruso is neither of them adjectives.

Even his superstar teammate LeBron James was shocked to see Caruso’s hops and nearly fell out of his seat watching Alex fly through the air for a rim-rattling dunk. He is not a one-trick pony either as Caruso is an above-average 3-point shooter.

While his sample size is relatively small, Caruso was able to average a stellar 48% from the 3-point line. Another solid attribute Caruso brings to the table is solid playmaking, as well as deceptive speed.

However, the one attribute above all else you are going to get from Alex Caruso is a lot of heart. He has worked hard to get on this Lakers roster as nothing was handed to him. He fought long and hard and earned his new 2-year contract. It was his heart and effort level that has endeared Caruso to Lakers nation.

While there is a section of Lakers fans who believe Caruso should be starting, I think the 1st point guard off the bench would suit him much better and allow him to be more effective.
