Recent Lakers rumors are that DeMarcus Cousins will be with the team in Las Vegas for LeBron James’ mini-camp.

With the start of the season rapidly approaching, there hasn’t been a ton of news and Lakers rumors. Most players are actively trying to get in the best shape possible for the upcoming season, and that is no different for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Recently, it was reported that LeBron James was going to be holding a players-only mini-camp in Las Vegas. This is certainly a great move by James to get the team together and begin to chase a ring.

Since training camp and the preseason is so short for the NBA, it is important for the guys on the roster to get used to each other. There is no better way to do that than to be on court doing drills and scrimmaging.

To the surprise of some, it was reported by Shams Charania that DeMarcus Cousins will be attending the mini-camp with his teammates.

Seeing Cousins being involved with the Lakers is a bit surprising at this point. The Lakers were recently granted a disabled player exception for him, which is an indication that the Lakers and the NBA don’t believe he will be playing this season.

Also, Cousins recently had a warrant out for his arrest in a potential domestic violence incident. There has been no update on the legal status of Cousins, but these incidents have to be taken very seriously.

Considering that he isn’t able to play and the legal issues, it is interesting to see that Cousins will be attending this mini-camp. However, the Lakers apparently want him to still be part of the team as of now.

Regardless of the Cousins situation, this minicamp will hopefully provide the team with a good bonding opportunity. Training camp is almost here for the Lakers, as they will be opening up earlier than some other teams due to them being in China for some preseason games.
