Recent Lakers rumors are that Kyle Kuzma might not be ready for the start of training camp.

With training camp set to begin on Saturday for the Los Angeles Lakers, recent Lakers rumors are that Kyle Kuzma might not be ready to play.

Kuzma has certainly had a busy offseason, as he was the only member of the Lakers’ young core that wasn’t traded for Anthony Davis. The Lakers clearly believe in Kuzma, and he figures to be their third option on offense behind Davis and LeBron James.

This summer, Kuzma was part of the Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. For a young player like Kuzma, this is an extremely great honor and opportunity to get better. Unfortunately, Kuzma suffered a foot injury which resulted in him being unable to play for Team USA.

Without Kuzma, Team USA did not reach their goals in the FIBA World Cup, as it was one of the most disappointing showings for the U.S. in international play in a long time.

Recently, Marc Stein reported that the foot injury suffered by Kuzma might still be an issue, and he could miss the start of training camp.

Since the Lakers will be playing in China for a few preseason games, they will be starting training camp a few days earlier than most of the NBA on Saturday. With that being just a few days away, it isn’t encouraging to see that Kuzma’s foot is still an issue.

The Lakers had to deal with a lot of injuries last season, and they certainly don’t want that to be the case again this season. With a lot of new faces, getting time on the court together is very important.

For Frank Vogel, Kuzma is an important piece that he certainly wants to see in action. With the ability to either start or come off the bench, Kuzma can really dictate a lot of lineups for the Lakers. Sadly, if he is out, Vogel won’t be able to test those lineups and rotations.

With training camp just days away, hopefully Kuzma will be able to get back on the floor soon. The Lakers’ first preseason game will be on October 5th against the Golden State Warriors.
