Lakers Rumors: Rajon Rondo has been impressive early on
By Nick Ziegler
Recent Lakers rumors are that Rajon Rondo has been very impressive leading up to training camp.
With training camp nearly here for the Los Angeles Lakers, recent Lakers rumors have been that Rajon Rondo has been very impressive so far leading up to camp.
As we get prepared for the Lakers’ first preseason game in about a week, everyone will be curious to see what type of lineups the Lakers will be using. What we do know as of now is that Kyle Kuzma will not be playing in the first three games of the preseason.
Many believed that Kuzma was going to be coming off the bench for the Lakers, but him missing time likely solidifies that.
One position that could still be up for grabs in the starting lineup is at point guard. This offseason, the Lakers added Avery Bradley in free agency to bolster their backcourt depth.
With the ability to shoot the ball from beyond the arc and play good defense, Bradley makes a lot of sense at guard in the starting lineup. However, the Lakers did bring back Rondo after what was a disappointing year last season. It is very encouraging to see that he is impressing early on, as reported by Ohm Youngmisuk.
At times, Rondo looked great for the Lakers. The game against the Boston Celtics looked like it was going to save the Lakers’ season at the time, as it was a huge win. However, Rondo’s numbers on the defensive end of the court and his overall rating left little to be desired.
With a new coach and a lot of changes on the roster, there are few certainties about what roles will be to start the season. Rondo might have realized that last season was a poor one, and some new competition has forced him to focus and try a bit more. As we saw at times last season, Rondo can still play in this league.
The Lakers’ first preseason game will be on October 5th against the Golden State Warriors. While Vogel will likely be switching lineups a lot, we could get an idea for where his head is at to start the preseason.
