Anthony Davis
Even after all the drama and significant amount of trade pieces it took to get him. I still can’t believe that Anthony Davis is now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The trade for AD is so significant for the Los Angeles Lakers, not just for the championship aspirations this season but for the Lakers’ future post-LeBron James.
With Anthony Davis now on the Lakers, LeBron James has the perfect player that will compliment his talents.
In the former Kentucky product, the Lakers have the best pick and roll finisher in the NBA. Davis’ offensive arsenal is vast and he can beat you from anywhere on the floor. Try and take him in the post and he will use his massive frame, an array of post moves and his athleticism to make you look silly.
Try and double team him and he has an elite ability to find an open man even when he is under immense pressure. Try and sag on him around the 3-point line and he can either pull up from three or beat you off the dribble to the basket for an empathic dunk.
With LeBron’s elite ability to make passes in the pick and roll and Davis’ elite ability to finish in the pick and roll, I think we might just be seeing the dawn of a terrifying duo for the rest of the NBA.
The best thing about having LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the same roster is that you can’t possibly double team both players. If you double team one of them, the other superstar is going to go to work.
In this lineup, Anthony Davis will be playing the center position. If you have him dominating in the post and LeBron James at power forward, tearing his opponent apart with his speed, athleticism, and playmaking. Kyle Kuzma is at small forward, spotting up and destroying opposing defenses in numerous ways and Danny Green at the guard spot capable of incinerating teams from the 3-point line. Bradley will have similar responsibilities as to Green.
When push comes to shove in crunch time this season, this could be the line up that will decide whether the Lakers win or lose the Larry O’Brien trophy.
