The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Kyle Kuzma for the season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers.

With opening night right around the corner for the Los Angeles Lakers, they will be preparing for a big showdown against the Los Angeles Clippers to start the season.

Both of the Los Angeles teams had great offseasons and we will see some of the new additions on display. For the Clippers, they arguably got the biggest price of free agency with the signing of Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard is coming off a great season with the Toronto Raptors, as he won his second NBA Championship. Leonard deciding to come to Los Angeles instantly gives the Clippers a chance to win the title this season, and he didn’t come alone.

Essentially at the same time as Leonard signed, the Clippers also traded for Paul George. Coming off one of the best seasons of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder, George will be an excellent partner in crime for Leonard.

Unfortunately for the Clippers, George will be missing time to start the season. While the matchup against the Lakers is certainly being hyped up, both teams will be short-handed.

In addition to George for the Clippers, the Lakers will be without Kyle Kuzma for the opener.

Seeing Kuzma out shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Due to a stress reaction in his foot, Kuzma missed the entire preseason for the Lakers. With it being early in the season, the Lakers are going to be playing it safe with Kuzma.

Frank Vogel wants to see Kuzma get at least one contact practice in before he gets him back in the swing of things. Considering Kuzma missed the entire preseason, he might take a few games to get his legs back underneath him.

While the first game of the season will be very exciting, neither team will be at full strength. Hopefully for the Lakers, Kuzma will be able to get in a full practice after the game against the Clippers and not miss too much time.
