Los Angeles Lakers: Ranking the top 10 players in the NBA today
The discussion of who the best player in the NBA today is tough. LeBron James held that title for as long as many people can remember, but after missing the playoffs last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, that title may be in jeopardy.
The Los Angeles Lakers know a thing or two about having some of the best players in the league. This list of the top 10 players in the NBA took many important factors into consideration, in hopes to deliver the most accurate analyzation of who the greatest players in the game truly are.
Age and potential should be ignored for the purpose of this conversation, as this is simply a list of who the best players in the NBA today are. Think of it like this: If all the current NBA rosters were dismantled and each team was to draft from a pool of players in today’s NBA, but for only this season, what would the top ten picks be?
Staying true to both the title and the purpose of this list, it was necessary to disqualify Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson from this ranking of the top 10 players in the NBA today, due to the significant injuries they both suffered during the postseason. Otherwise, Durant would have easily made it onto the list and Thompson would have given some players in this top 10 a run for their money.
For Lakers fans, this top 10 is exciting, as it features two guys from the current Lakers roster. Most can assume who the two players are.
LeBron James has been the league’s best player for at least the past five years, and probably more if you spoke to anyone who wasn’t a Kobe Bryant fan. This past season, the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make it to the playoffs, meaning LeBron James got to relax at home during the postseason for the first time since 2005.
James endured the worst injury of his career this past season and on numerous occasions looked uncoordinated on the defensive end. Therefore, many are led to believe that James no longer holds the title as the NBA’s best player.
Here are the NBA’s top 10 players in ascending order… Spoiler Alert! LeBron James isn’t number 1.
