With the Los Angeles Lakers on a road-trip, we have begun to see Anthony Davis spacing the floor a bit more.
Things have been going very well to start the season for the Los Angeles Lakers. With one of the best records in the NBA as of now, the Lakers are meeting the expectations that came with a strong offseason.
The decision to trade for Anthony Davis this summer is certainly paying off. Davis is playing like one of the best players in the league on both ends of the court, and he and LeBron James have meshed rather well together in a short amount of time.
One of the nice things about Davis is his ability to do multiple things on the offensive end. At nearly 7’0”, Davis can move like a guard, but is also polished in the post. He is truly one of the most difficult players in the league to guard because of his offensive versatility.
As of late, we have started to see Davis use his jumper from beyond the arc a bit more. This is a request coming directly from his head coach, and it has been working out.
In the last three games, Davis has taken at least five 3-point attempts in each game. In those three games, Davis is shooting at least 50 percent from behind the arc, which is a great percentage for any player, let alone a big man.
For his career, Davis is a 31 percent shooting from 3-point range. This is certainly a solid number, but the looks that he has been getting with the Lakers have been rather good.
If Davis continues to hurt teams from behind the 3-point line, there really isn’t much a defense is going to be able to do against him. He is certainly skilled and quick enough to take an opposing big off the dribble with a head fake from 3-point line, and finish at the rim.
With the Lakers on another lengthy winning streak, the play of Davis has certainly be a contributing factor. Hopefully, Davis keeps up the sharpshooting from deep.
