The Los Angeles Lakers were able to come away with a victory against the New Orleans Pelicans in Anthony Davis’ return.
On Thanksgiving Eve, the Los Angeles Lakers put their winning streak on the line in what many expected to be an emotional game.
Emotions were certainly high in New Orleans, as Davis made his first trip back. As expected, Davis was met by boos in New Orleans, as the fans certainly didn’t take kindly to him wanting out and going to Los Angeles.
Basically every time Davis had the ball, the fans let him hear it, as it was a playoff-type atmosphere in New Orleans.
Davis was able to handle the pressure of playing back in New Orleans rather well, though. The Lakers looked to feature Davis, as the Pelicans really didn’t have an answer for him on the defensive end.
Despite Davis having one of his best games of the season, the Pelicans easily could have won this game. The Pelicans jumped out to a 13-point lead in the first quarter, and were able to keep it for most of the game.
However, a big 4th quarter by the Lakers helped them escape New Orleans with a win. Davis especially had great game, finishing with 41 points on 15-of-30 shooting from the field. He was also able to do it on the defensive end like he has all season with three steals, including one to seal the game.
With the win over the Pelicans, the Lakers have now won nine straight games, and are 16-2 on the season. This wrapped up another successful road-trip for the Lakers, as they won four straight games.
It wasn’t the prettiest of road-trips for the Lakers, but they were able to find ways to win late in the game.
For Davis, this was surely a game that he had marked on his calendar. Returns back to the city that you have played for so many years is always challenging and emotional. However, Davis played excellent and the Lakers came away with a win.
