2.) Get the midrange game going
The Magic are one of the worst teams at defending the midrange, as CleaningtheGlass currently has them ranked 25th in opponent FG%, and 24th in attempts. Obviously, the midrange shot isn’t the most ideal shot to base your offensive game plan around, but if you have the personnel to do so and a defense that allows it, then the Lakers need to take advantage of this.
Anthony Davis will be the primary beneficiary of this particular hole in the Magic defense, as his size and strength allow him to get to whatever spot he needs to with relative ease.
On the season, Davis has been shooting 44% of his shots from the midrange, and while he’s only been hitting them at a 33% clip, he should have a much easier time against a Magic team that doesn’t defend well from that area.
Jonathan Isaac will most likely draw the matchup against Davis and will be eager to showcase his DPOY candidacy, but unfortunately for Isaac, Davis will be doing the same.
