Los Angeles Lakers: 3 keys to beating the Orlando Magic in game 25
By Ethan Temkin
1.) Exploit the lack of rim protection
Not only does Vučević’s injury affect the Magic’s offense, his absence has also affected their interior defense, as the team is down to Mohamed Bamba, who is incredibly raw, Jonathan Isaac, who lacks the size and strength to hang with the Laker bigs, and Khem Birch, who is statistically the team’s worst defender.
Anthony Davis is coming off of a 50 point game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and there’s no reason to think that he’ll be slowing down against an arguably worse Orlando team.
The pick and roll chemistry between him and LeBron James is also getting better, and coach Frank Vogel has been making a concerted effort to get Davis easier shots. All of this should factor out to another career night for Davis.
Something else to keep an eye on is the return of Dwight Howard to the place where his career started.
Players returning to play against former teams, especially ones where they’ve had the bulk of their success at, is always a recipe for a great performance, so you can expect Dwight to be extra motivated to put on a show for the Magic crowd.
