Recent Lakers rumors are that Darren Collison is considering coming out of retirement.

With the new decade here, recent Lakers rumors have been about a potential addition for the Lakers.

After a successful end to the year of 2019 for the Lakers, they are hoping to keep up their winning ways as they head into 2020. With the best record in the Western Conference up until this point, the Lakers are certainly a contender to win it all.

While the Lakers might be a title contender, that won’t stop them from trying to improve their roster before the NBA Playoffs. One of the surprise players that they have recently been linked to is Darren Collison.

Collison shocked many this offseason when he decided to retire, as he is still a capable player in the NBA and left alot of money on the table. Seeing Collison reportedlty being interested in either the Lakers or the Clippers should also come as no surprise.

With all buyout or veterans looking to find a winner to join, the teams in Los Angeles will be right at the top of their lists.

In 76 games with the Pacers last season, Collison averaged 11.2 points and 6.0 assists in just under 30 minutes per game. Collison is certainly a good rotation player in the NBA, and would help the Lakers with their floor spacing as a 40 percent shooter from beyond the arc last season.

If it does come down to the Clippers and the Lakers, Collison would likely be able to have a larger role with the Lakers than he would with the Clippers. Even though the Lakers are playing well, they could use a guard like Collison who could run the offense. The Lakers are relying very heavily on LeBron James to be the main facilitator this season, with Rondo coming off the bench.

As per Wojnarowski, Collison will be looking to return around February. If he is is good shape, the Lakers should certainly think about adding him. As the trade deadline and buyout period approaches, it will be interesting to see if Collison un-retires and is available.
