Los Angeles Lakers: 3 keys to beating the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 35
By Ethan Temkin
With the Los Angeles Lakers set to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night, here are the three keys to victory.
After a four-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Lakers have bounced back to win their last three games, tightening their grip on the top spot in the Western Conference standings with a 27-7 record.
On the other side of the floor is the New Orleans Pelicans, a team very familiar to Anthony Davis, whom he spent the first seven years of his career with.
The last time these two teams faced off, Davis made a statement against his former team by pouring in 41 points, and 9 rebounds on 50% shooting from the field and a 114-110 Lakers victory.
Given how much players like to go off against their former team, it’s not crazy to think that we’ll see a similar level of production out of the Brow this time around.
On the injury front, besides former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson, who has yet to play a single minute of NBA action, the Pelicans will be heading into this game with no one listed on the injury report. The same goes for the Lakers, who also will be heading into this matchup at 100 percent.
Even though the Pelicans are well out of the playoff hunt, sitting at 14th in the Western Conference with an 11-23 record, they still have a potent offense, with one of the best offensive coaches in the league in Alvin Gentry. This means that they’re still capable of getting hot and beating any team on any given night.
With that in mind, let’s dig into the three keys to victory for the Los Angeles Lakers.
