Even though the Los Angeles Lakers have struggled for the better part of this decade, there were plenty of notable positive memories. Take a look through the best and most memorable Lakers moments during the decade of the 2010s.
The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the more storied franchises in all of sports and they are the only NBA team to have won a championship in five separate decades. Yet, even though they won a championship this decade the 2010s were easily the most futile decade in Lakers history.
Prior to this decade, the Lakers only missed the playoffs five times in their history, but in the 2010’s they missed the playoffs six straight years in a row from 2013 to 2019.
Despite that, this decade was not all bad. After all, they won the first championship that was given out during the decade, something six NBA teams have never done in their history. They also won the Pacific division three out of the ten years in the decade.
As a result of their struggles, the Lakers had the No. 2 pick in the draft three times this decade, and those picks helped set them up for the season they are having now. It put them on the path to trade for another superstar to put alongside LeBron, and that should be considered a successful rebuild, no matter how low the lows were.
This decade will be remembered for the last days of Kobe Bryant‘s Hall of Fame career, the lone championship in 2010 against the Celtics, and how the baby Lakers became fan favorites and got traded. It was a decade of extreme highs and even more extreme lows that the franchise has ever seen, but somehow, they survived and back to being title contenders again.
