There is not much wrong with the Los Angeles Lakers, but they do have a Rajon Rondo problem they need to address.

Every night brings another surprise as the Los Angeles Lakers never know what they are going to get with the mercurial point guard from Kentucky.

Last season gave a lot to forget about with Rajon Rondo as his season was up and down but mostly down as the Lakers season spiraled down the drain during the AD trade talks. After the season, bringing back Rondo was not a foregone conclusion until the AD trade happened. Mind you, this is not a knock on Davis, but given the close bond he has with Rondo, he almost gets a pass.

Much has been made about the Lakers’ lack of attracting stars but that talk died when LeBron James and Anthony Davis chose to don the purple and gold. With such heavyweights choosing to save a franchise from sinking under comes certain agreements and favors.

LeBron’s favor included signing his guy Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, which turn out to be a good signing so far, as KCP has only improved from his first season to now shooting career-highs from three and playing elite on-ball defense. Rondo, on the other hand, was signed not only because LeBron wanted him back but the bond that Rajon and Davis shared as Pelicans left a big imprint on AD.

This is great because back in the day Rondo was an elite ballplayer, but nowadays, he sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s not all his fault because signing Rondo means you know you are not getting a floor spacer and someone who will turn down outside shots.

Normally that would not be a problem as most of his career he was so good it didn’t matter. But, now teams know this and cheat off Rondo when LeBron and AD run the pick and roll. That then clogs the lane and forces Rondo to shoot three’s.

Open three’s are great but Rondo should not be the first player to shoot one with Danny Green and KCP on the court, which leads to my point earlier in the season where I stated that the Lakers are missing a shot creator off the bench.

Too much of the offense heavily relies on LBJ to do something great and far too often the burden falls on Rondo to create which is not his forte.

The Lakers have a little over three weeks to solve this issue which could come back to haunt them during a tight series in may where there’s just not enough bucket getters on the court.
