Maybe Anthony Davis should have waited and took a bite of the Big Apple!
Anthony Davis will be the odds on favorite to win the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award. Let’s just hope the voting committee don’t get a copy of this game to watch before voting starts.
Anthony Davis was very rusty in this game, getting in foul trouble in the first four minutes of the game with two fouls. When he was in the game, he seemed a step behind everyone defensively while Enes Kanter led the charge on the offensive glass for the Celtics grabbing 6 of the team’s 14 total.
AD only scored 9 points on 3-of-7 shooting. He was on a 28 minutes restriction but it really didn’t matter. After the first quarter, he was not much of a factor.
Frank Vogel talked about a possible error taking AD out after his second foul.
After the game, AD vented his frustrations and disappointment via Silver Screen and Roll.
"“They were more physical. They basically did whatever they wanted the whole night and we didn’t respond. We can’t afford to do that, especially on the road, against a team like this — against any team. We got to make sure to come out and be the ones that’s aggressive: We’re hitting guys first, we’re rebounding the ball, we’re running. That’s when we’re at our best.”"
Hindsight is 20/20, but maybe it was better served if Davis would have sat this one out. Sure, that seems kind of strange, but the rotations were off all night long and it affected many of the Lakers players’ minutes.
Let’s talk about these two.
