Jared Dudley is the ultimate old school player. He can knock you out in the shortest of stretches.

People wonder what happened to the Brooklyn Nets. Even with Kyrie Irving, there is something missing on that team. That something is Jared Dudley. LeBron James knew it because that’s why the Los Angeles Lakers signed him over the summer.

People may clown him and say he looks like Elmer Fudd or claim he can’t play basketball anymore, but the man has his moments. This buzzer beater at the end of the 3rd quarter basically knocked the Nets out.

Jared Dudley finished the game with 8 points, 5 rebounds and some solid defense, but this play here started the Lakers’ momentum that the Nets could not stop. Check out the celebration from his teammates who probably was more excited than he was. Even the crowd was shocked and excited. He did the same thing last year in Barclays. He was just on the Nets at the time.

Jared Dudley actually MATCHED LeBron James in 4th quarter scoring with 10 points to close the game out for the Nets in their victory over the Lakers last year. LeBron started sending mixed messages about his patience running thin. Carmelo Anthony talks started heating up. It was something. Probably the last time Dudley closed out a NBA team in crunch time was when he was in Phoenix. Maybe Charlotte, when the team was called the BOBCATS.

Casual NBA fans do not understand how hard it is to be on the end of the bench and staying ready when called on. Jared Dudley is the guy that any NBA locker room needs. With the team falling apart around this time last year, Rob Pelinka made it a point to get veterans that would accept their roles and stay ready.

Jared Dudley is that guy.
