The Los Angeles Lakers will try to be active at the trade deadline. Quinn Cook could be an intriguing option to help a teams perimeter shooting.
Quinn Cook signed a two-year $6 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason. The deal included $3 million guaranteed this season and $1 million guaranteed next season until 6/20/2020 and then guaranteed after that day if he is still on the roster.
He was brought in to help a Lakers team that struggled with spacing issues in the 2018-19 season. LeBron James has always thrived on teams with spacing and the Lakers knew what they had to do.
Cook is a career 41.4% 3-point shooter. He has made his mark in the NBA being able to knock down shots from the perimeter. He has hit on 38.2% of his attempts this year, although seeing sporadic amounts of playing time.
Which brings us to the main point. Cook can be traded and bring in another option on the wing for the Lakers to combat guys such as Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Lakers will need as many bodies to throw at those guys as possible.
Or the Lakers could go the route of bringing in another shooter. One that would be better for this team that’s looking to win now. This team is looking to make a run this season and it is championship or bust.
We focused on small trades with Troy Daniels, now we take a look at what possibly Cook could bring. Again it’s not a trade that is going to make or break the team. But if they want to be active at the deadline it’s going to be small deals, that lead up to the buyout market.
With that being said let’s jump right into it. We put together three trade scenarios that could help the Lakers fill a need and other teams would be interested in helping improve their shooting.
